Women

In all kinds of media we hear that Islam supress women and never give them their rights many people claim that Muslims see the women in a lower level than men, well I really would like to start by clarifing this point because actually the truth is by far the opposite ....in my opinion Islam is the only religion that gives more rights to women than men and its the only religion that gives certain rights to the women lets see...

"Treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers."

From the last sermon of Prophet Mohammed pbuh

Glimplse in History
In days before Islam, women were treated like slaves or property. Their personal consent concerning anything related to their well-being was considered unimportant, to such a degree that they were never even treated as a party to a marriage contract.Women were used for one purpose, and then discarded. They had no independence, could own no property and were not allowed to inherit infact they were inherited. In times of war, women were treated as part of the prize. Simply put, their condition was unspeakable. In addition, the birth of a daughter in a family was not an occasion for rejoicing, but was regarded with humiliation. The practice of killing female children was uncontrolled.

Outside Arabia conditions for women were no better. In India, Egypt, and all European countries in the Dark Ages, women were treated worse than slaves. They were not regarded as human beings but as sort of a sub-species between humans and animals.

With the advent of Islam came the verse from the Quran condemning those who practiced female infanticide:
"And when the news of (the birth of) a female (child) is brought to any of them, his face becomes dark, and he is filled with inward grief! He hides himself from the people because of the evil of that whereof he has been informed. Shall he keep her with dishonor or bury her in the earth? Certainly, evil is their decision."(An-Nahl 16:58-59)

I know by now people might think that there were other religions that gave rights to women before Islam but thats simply not true check this wikipedia link if you are not sure.

The most basic right of a woman in Islam is the knowledge and recognition that she never has to ask or demand or fight for her rights which are guaranteed to her by God (Allah) Himself and Islam is the only religion that gave the women this right.
God says in the Holy Quraán :
"O You who believe! You are forbidden to inherit women against their will, and you should not treat them with harshness, that you may take away part of the Mahr (bridal-money given by the husband to his wife at time of marriage) you have given them, unless they commit open illegal sexual intercourse. And live with them honorably. If you dislike them, it may be that you dislike a thing and Allah bringsthrough it a great deal of good." (An-Nisa "Women" 4:19)

Human Rights

As we mentioned before there were no rights to women on this earth before Islam.

Islam is the only religion that considers a woman to be equal to a man as a human being and as his partner in this life. Women have been created with a soul of the same nature as man’s. Allah says in the Quran:
"O mankind! Be dutiful to your Lord, Who created you from a single person (Adam), and from him (Adam) He created his wife (Eve), and from them both He created many men and women and fear Allah through Whom you demand your mutual (rights), and (do not cut the relations of) the wombs (kinship). Surely, Allah is Ever and All-Watcher over you."
(Al-Nisa "Women" 4:1)

And in the words of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon himhe says,
"Assuredly, women are the twin halves of men."

I hope that by now you gained enough knowledge to be sure that Islam did not take any rights from the women infact Islam is the only religion that gave her freedom
N.B: Other questions about the woman (Hijab"Veil", Marriage...etc) we will be discussing them shortly.

Islam and the sword

Islam is now the fastest growing religion in the world but, one of the great misconceptions about Islam is that it was spread by the sword which is of course not true at all

First I would like to get some testimonials from some great non-Muslim historians that reply to the misconception that Islam was spread by the sword, the noted historian De Lacy O’Leary in the book "Islam at the cross road" (Page 8) says:
"History makes it clear however, that the legend of fanatical Muslims sweeping through the world and forcing Islam at the point of the sword upon conquered races is one of the most fantastically absurd myth that historians have ever repeated."

Also the famous historian, Thomas Carlyle, in his book "Heroes and Hero worship", refers to this misconception about the spread of Islam and says:
"The sword indeed, but where will you get your sword? Every new opinion, at its starting is precisely in a minority of one. In one man’s head alone. There it dwells as yet. One man alone of the whole world believes it, there is one man against all men. That he takes a sword and try to propagate with that, will do little for him. You must get your sword! On the whole, a thing will propagate itself as it can."

Even in the Qur'an, God forbids Muslims to force people to convert. God clearly says :
"Let there be no compulsion in religion:
Truth stands out clear from error"
[Al-Qur’an 2:256]

Also not only God forbids us to force people to convert but he also shows us the perfect way to introduce Islam to people, God says :
"Invite (all) to the way of thy Lord
with wisdom and beautiful preaching;
and argue with them in ways that are
best and most gracious."
[Al-Qur’an 16:125]
One last thing to say is that Islam is the only religion that respects the freedom of belief, In the Quraán God simply says :
Say (O Muhammad: "O non-blievers(in Islam) I worship not that which you worship, Nor will you worship that which I worship. And I shall not worship that which you are worshipping. Nor will you worship that which I worship. To you be your religion, and to me my religion (Islam)." [last chapter in the Quraán]

I hope by now you are fully convinced that Islam was not spread by sword but If you are still not 100% convinced, here is what you could do, simply search on the internet on how Islam entered India, Malaysia, Indonesia and all the East Coast of Africa.

And of course if you have any questions or comments please feel free to share them and I will try my best to answer back :)

The Word Allah

One of the main misconceptions that needs to be cleared and that is widely spread is the word Allah, people claim that Muslims worship something called Allah others say it is the moon God. Allah simply means "God" but in the Arabic language, not only Muslims use the word Allah since it is not only related to the Islamic religion but it is related to the Arabic language infact Arab Christians use the word Allah commonly and its written in the Arabic translated Bibles since the word Allah simply means "God" just like the word "Elohim" means God in Judaism.

I hope this part is cleared out by now because I will use the word "God" as "Allah" and vice versa, I would also like that if anything is not clear enough or needs more clarifying just leave me a comment.
